The Vic is one of the three remaining hotels from Rutherglen’s golden past. In the days of the gold rush, there were 34 hotels in town catering for the needs of the thousands of prospectors.
This building, dating from 1867, replaces a previous wooden building built in 1864 (we believe). You will therefore staying in one of the earliest pubs built in Victoria. We hope you will enjoy your time with us in this older style environment!
Room accommodation is much as it would have been 150 years ago with airy simple rooms including high ceilings and original fireplaces and features. 3 rooms have been altered over time to include ensuite bathrooms.
The remaining 17 rooms are traditional style and share modern bathrooms with separate facilities for ladies and gentlemen.
The Guests Lounge and stunning grand old Verandah are available for guest use and enjoyment and provide a perfect venue to rest and relax.
Private meals can be arranged upstairs either from the menu or in conjunction with one of Rutherglen’s many wine makers to provide a high point for your stay.
All room rates include breakfast which is available in the Dining Room from 7.00 am to 10.30am; you can choose from either the continental breakfast which is included in the room tariff, or you may order a cooked breakfast. Lunch is available from 12.00pm to 2.00pm, and dinner from 6.00pm to 8.30pm, in the Bistro, Dining Room or the Beer Garden.
