Enjoy the tinkling of Bellbirds and the beautiful parrots while you relax around an open fire in a tranquil bushland setting, or for those with a little more energy why not take a swim, have a game of tennis, or golf. – A great way to unwind.

In close proximity to a range of local attractions including East Gippsland Rail Trail, local wineries; and boat launching ramps on the Nicholson & Tambo Rivers, our central location puts all that the Victorian Riviera has to offer at your finger tips, yet allows you the peace of mind to relax away from the busy highway.

Situated between the high country and the Gippsland Lakes, Lakes Bushland is a short drive to the 90 mile beach, and Lakes Entrance

If you just want to relax, our well stocked kiosk and ample recreation facilities means you don’t even have to leave the park. Or for those wanting to see it all, the area abounds with attractions, both natural and man made.

ACCOMODATION:-

Fully self-contained ensuite cabins, sleeping from 4 to 6 – some with private BBQ Cabins have a double bed with full linen & towels, and either 2,3 , or 4 bunks. Pillows and blankets are provided for bunks, but linen or sleeping bag, and towels is required. All cabins have kitchen facilities including gas cook top, fridge, microwave, cookware and dinnerware. Some have a full size stove. A television, and reverse cycle heating/cooling are provided in cabins, and a DVD player is available for hire.

ATTRACTIONS and ACTIVITIES

The Gippsland Lakes, including Lake Tyers is the largest estuarine lake system in Australia, and is unsurpassed for all water sports – boating, yachting, sailboard riding, swimming, skiing and fishing.

RIVERS

The Tambo, Nicholson, and Mitchell Rivers provide some great bream fishing, and there are excellent boat ramps.

BEACHES

The 90 mile beach, just 20 minutes away at Lakes Entrance is wonderful for surfing, swimming, surf fishing or just to stroll along.

CYCLING

The East Gippsland Rail Trail is just  a short ride away, and crosses Stephenson Road just 2 kms from the caravan park.

CRUISES

For those without a boat of their own, they can be hired at Lakes Entrance, or there are a variety of cruises available to book.

CAVES

The Buchan caves are some of the best limestone caves in Victoria, and at just a 45 minute drive, make an excellent day trip.

HISTORY

The homestead at Nyerimilang Park is worthy of a visit with its magnificent rose garden and lake views.

SHOPPING

For the shopaholic there are the towns of Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale (while there, don’t forget to check out the magnificent ceiling of St Mary’s Church).

NATIONAL PARKS

The area abounds with national parks including the Colquhuon Forest, Fairy Dell, and Glenaladale National Park for the bushwalking enthusiast, and for those who prefer the beach, there are the Ninety Mile Beach Marine Park and the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park.

DAY TRIPS

Mount Hotham is only a 2 hour drive up the Alpine Highway following the Tambo Valley, with some beautiful scenery and a variety of interesting towns to stop at along the way.

Follow the Princes Highway east, and visit the timber town of Orbost, then take the road to Marlo, where the mighty Snowy River flows out to the ocean.

NICHOLSON and SURROUNDS

This part of East Gippsland has much to offer, together with a moderate climate all year. Cool sea breezes in the summer, and the temperate effect of the ocean in winter makes for a perfect holiday in either winter or summer.

FISHING

For the fisherman, Lakes Bushland is just 5 minutes from the boat launching ramp on the Nicholson River at Nicholson, and 10 minutes from the launching ramp on the Tambo River at Johnsonville. With very large sites, there is ample space for boat parking, together with a fish cleaning bay.

At the end of a hard day’s fishing, sit and relax around the camp fire, or, if the fish weren’t biting, throw a steak on the barbie.
