The location is ideal for getting around Melbourne without a car, and has local sporting facilities and shops within a block from the door.

Property Description:

This vintage brick building at the rear of the property has been converted into a very comfortable and smartly fitted out apartment-style cottage. Access is down a path at the side of the owners' residence, through the rear garden to a private corner beside the swimming pool. The large, walled garden provides unexpected tranquillity for an inner city location. The cool blue pool is relaxing visual focus of the setting plus it can be used by guests for a delightful dip in warm weather. A covered courtyard, paved in limestone, belongs to the cottage providing an outdoor living space, off the kitchen, with sun lounges in summer or outdoor table and chairs at other times.

The building is long with a total of eight squares of cottage floor space all on ground level. There are two very large rooms with an open doorway, which can be closed off by sliding the Japanese shoji screen. One of these rooms has the bed, a lounge sofa, a long work desk and plenty of open space. The other, kitchen - meals room, is similarly spacious. Translucent glass exteriors doors add light while maximising privacy. White walls, neutral modern built in cupboards, soft lighting and dark floors altogether create a modern, Japanese-style simplicity and purity to the interior décor.

Description of Rooms/Units:

The bedroom contains a queen size bed, built in wardrobe and drawers, work desk, widescreen television, DVD and CD players and a lounge settee. The windows have retractable charcoal block out blinds. The bathroom is tiled in white with a modern dark timber vanity, large mirrors with storage behind, a shower and ceiling heat lamps.

The kitchen - meals room is equipped with a four-burner gas cooktop, microwave, compact fridge, toaster, electric kettle, as well as a front-loading washing machine. The sink window overlooks the garden and a door opens to into the courtyard. There are ample cupboards and very modern white kitchen chairs and a table.

The cottage has a split system for heating and cooling. Off street parking can be provided.

Dining Options: An exciting diversity of restaurants, in all price ranges, can be found in nearby Fitzroy and Carlton. Take home options include everything from fish & chips to tapas, or, stock up on fresh provisions and self cater in your kitchen.
